Local Heroes
On the doorstep of Welcome Building® is an ever-growing community of small independent businesses.

Like all good things in Bristol, each have a strong connection to the local community and together, they offer all the things required for a proper working day.

It all starts with coffee at Small Goods (accompanied by the finest of doughnuts), followed a couple of hours later by a delicious lunch to take away from Dings Deli.

To unwind, the day is finished off with a glorious pint served fresh from the Little Martha Brewery.

Little Martha Brewery
First thing on a Monday morning, beneath the railway arches, you’ll find Ed preparing this week’s beers.

It’s a long way away from his early years as an engineer brewing beer at home, but Ed along with friends George and Pelin
had a dream to build a brewpub for anyone to come in and enjoy good drinks and good company.

So back in 2021 they opened up serving firm favourites such as ‘Mysterious Intergalactic Object’ and ‘Trousers of Time’.

Popular with the St Philips community after work, and groups of beer tasters at the weekend Little Martha continues to flourish and stand out.

Small Goods
Just opposite the entrance to Welcome Building® sits the pink-adorned coffee and doughnut specialists Small Goods.

Run by Chris and his team of achingly cool and masterful young bakers and baristas, Small Goods is the place to go
for a calming start to the day.

With its beautiful minimal interiors, sustainable ethos and pink merch abound, Small Goods is a true reflection of all that’s good in being an individual, independent business in Bristol.

The Dings Deli
Liz, the owner of The Dings Deli, is a local legend. Bursting with energy and a warm welcome, delicious coffee and deli-style sandwiches are only one of the reasons to visit. In fact, many from the community simply pop in every day just for a (long) chat with Liz.

All sorts of interesting produce are up on the shelves to make lunch or dinner a little more sophisticated. And when not behind the counter, Liz is often out and about delivering catering for some of the larger businesses nearby.

Being a mainstay of the area is all part of her long-term plans to be part of this growing community, particularly
with the arrival of the upcoming Enterprise Campus close by.
